Aprilia Other description

2009 Aprilia MXV 450, BRAND NEW - All design solutions on the uncompromising MXV 450 have been dictated by the need to achieve the highest possible level of performance while extending the bike’s range of use. The under-seat exhaust, for example, features a brand new path for better motocross performance with more torque at lower revolutions. Valve gear based on a single overhead cam and four titanium valves per cylinder gives the best possible compromise between compactness, light weight, and performance. Thanks to its advanced technology the 45.2 engine is extremely civilized and silent running even in this motocross version, and complies easily with FIM rules for noise emissions (94 decibel threshold). The MXV 450 affords beautifully easy access for maintenance (plugs, oil filter, air filter), and boasts extended maintenance intervals, far above the average. The engine has a dry sump lubrication system with the oil tank integrated inside the crankcase. Elimination of the external oil tank and its connecting pipes has led to a further reduction in weight. The starter motor has been eliminated for the same reason. Starting is by kick-start only in order to minimize weight.

2010 Aprilia RSV4 Engine Recall

Tue, 02 Feb 2010

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration finally released information about the upcoming Aprilia RSV4 engine recall, and just as we suspected here at Motorcycle.com, the culprit was a faulty batch of connecting rods. Yes, the same conrods that curtailed the RSV4R’s European launch, attended by our correspondent Tor Sagen. That October media event at the world-class Mugello circuit was halted after five, count’em, FIVE engines blew.

Aprilia unveils RSV4 R FW-GP sportbike with technical solutions from the world of MotoGP

Wed, 07 Dec 2016

On the New Year’s Eve, the company from Noale announced the launch of a new customer program for its racing division and removed the cover from four different variants of the RSV4 “sport liter” at once. At the same time, if the first three, in fact, are machines “cut down” to meet the technical regulations of the competition (two superstocks with different degrees of “roasting” RSV4 R FW-SSTK1 and RSV4 R FW-SSTK2, as well as a superbike RSV4 R-FW SBK), then the fourth , RSV4 R FW-GP, is something special. The new Aprilia is actually created on the basis of a road bike, with an implanted engine from the RS-GP 15 grand prix car.

WSBK 2013: Laguna Seca Race Report

Mon, 30 Sep 2013

Tom Sykes and Eugene Laverty each came away with a victory as the World Superbike Championship made its return to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The first race featured two red flags, ironically caused by AMA Superbike regulars Danny Eslick and Roger Hayden, the two men with the most recent experience at the famed track. The second race was a much cleaner affair, with a dramatic finish, setting up the final two rounds of the championship.
