Aprilia SL1000 description

This is a used Sport Touring Italian V-Twin motorcycle. I'm the third owner I purchased it in May of 2008 with 7580 miles on it. It has never been down. I replaced the clutch plates at around 18000 miles , I replaced the stock hub at the same time. They say there was something wrong with the factory hub which made the clutch slip. Haven't had any issues with the clutch since then. I also replaced the clutch slave cylinder with an aftermarket one, the stock one was two piece and always leaked. I replaced the rear shock with one off of an '04 RSV1000, much better shock. Currently I have GPR slipons on the motorcycle, which sound fantastic, but I'll include the stock ones in the sell. Also included will be a set of factory soft saddlebags, with mounting brackets and factory tankbag.  I also have put an aftermarket bellypan on the motorcycle still have the original. I don't use the backseat , there is a rear cowl on it, but I do have the seat. This is a nice motorcycle considering how old it is! Good Luck!!

EICMA 2013: Aprilia To Enter MotoGP In 2016

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

Amidst all of the uncertainty with the future of Aprilia’s racing plans, Roberto Colaninno, chairman of the Piaggio Group, which owns Aprilia, confirmed Tuesday at EICMA that the brand was in fact making a full-fledged return to MotoGP in 2016 as a factory team. Colaninno was quoted as saying, “In 2016 Aprilia will return to MotoGP to win and match the success it had in [World] Superbikes.” Aprilia has been going through some turmoil of late when it was announced that technical director Luigi Dall’Igna was jumping ship to rival Ducati. This announcement aims to quell the turmoil and refocus the racing team’s attention.

WSBK 2013: Portimao Race Report

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

Marco Melandri and Eugene Laverty split a pair of victories at Portugal’s Portimao circuit while Sylvain Guintoli took advantage of some misfortune to his championship rivals to increase his lead in the 2013 World Superbike Championship standings. Guintoli has been leading or sharing the lead in the championship since winning the first race of Round 1 in Australia, but amazingly continues to lead despite having just that single victory after six rounds. The Aprilia rider has accomplished this through his consistency (Guintoli leads all racers with nine podium finishes in 12 races) and ability to finish each race (he’s the only rider in the top seven without a DNF).

Alvaro Bautista goes Aprilia in MotoGP

Mon, 15 Sep 2014

Just hours after it announced it would return to MotoGP one year ahead of schedule, Aprilia announced it has signed current MotoGP Gresini Honda rider Alvaro Bautista to a two-year contract. Bautista won the 125 World Championship for Aprilia back in 2006 and started out on the Italian company’s 125s. Now in his fifth year in MotoGP, the 29-year-old Spaniard has three third-place finishes and one pole to show for his efforts.
