BMW K-Series description

I am selling my 1986 BMW K100RS. Bike has been stripped of the OEM fairings and the rear fender has been trimmed down in more of a cafe racer style. The seat is a Corbin seat that has been modified to fit the alterations to the rear fender. Also fitted is an aftermarket Supertrapp shorty exhaust and custom stainless exhaust collector made by a specialist in New Zealand. It also has aftermarket LED blinkers and Radiantz integrated tail light.

Brakes and tires are both in good condition (front tire ~90% and rear ~60-70%). The battery is new this spring and there are no engine oil, coolant, fork or rear shock leaks. The clutch splines were lubed when I bought the bike from the previous owner last year, about 8000 miles ago. Bike runs flawlessly and idles good - I ride the bike almost daily to and from work on the highway (about 80 miles per trip). I have no hesitations to just hop on and ride anywhere with this bike. The only reason I am selling is because I am looking for more of a cruiser.

The front master cylinder does drip a little brake fluid and will likely need a rebuild in the near future. I run it as is and just keep an eye on the fluid. The speedometer stopped working about a week ago, which is a common problem with these bikes. Before it stopped work, it was intermittent and would start working again with a knock on the side of the dash - which leads me to believe it is the normal issue and just a little corrosion/loose connection inside. The rest of the dash and indicator lights work as normal. The gear indicator (shows what gear you are in 0-5) does have some blotching but you can still see what gear you are in.

Immediate deposit of $100 due upon auction closing via PayPal. Remaining payment due within 7 days of auction close, payable by wire or bank certified check. Vehicle will not be released until funds are cleared. I will work in conjunction with the buyer on arranging for shipping, however buyer is responsible for all shipping, handling and packing costs.

Please message me with any questions, or if you would like to speak over the phone.

Spy Video Provides Up-Close Look at 2014 BMW R1200RT/R1200GT

Wed, 17 Apr 2013

Last month, we published spy photos of what appeared to be some prototypes of the 2014 BMW R1200RT sport-tourer undergoing testing somewhere in southern France. Unfortunately, the photographs were captured from far away, preventing us from seeing many details apart from the new water-cooled Boxer engine from the new GS and what appears to be the adaptive headlight from the K1600GT and GTL. Thankfully, a new video has surfaced, providing an up-close look at the new R1200RT.

After holding three events in the southern hemisphere, the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy will go north in September 2014, to Canada. Billed as the GS riders’ Olympics, the biennial competition pits teams representing different countries against one another in a number of challenges testing their riding skills. Previous competitions had competitors riding the F800GS but for 2014, the GS Trophy will switch to the liquid-cooled R1200GS.
