BMW K-Series description

Have you ever said to yourself, "I'd really like a sidecar, but it needs to look like something out of Mad Max!"

Today's your lucky day! Due to illness in the family, I'm looking for a new home for my 1987 BMW K100 sidecar rig. This is a totally custom rig, fabricated by Claude Stanley Motorsports in Pennsylvania. It has an EML leading link front end, and rims that mount car tires all around, resulting in much better handling as a sidecar rig.

The thing that sets this rig apart from other sidecars is that this one has an anti-sway bar, which keeps the handling flat in turns. This is a hardcore sidecar rig, and you shouldn't ride it if you don't like talking to people, because EVERYONE wants to talk to you, and see what the h#ll that thing is! Three separate times I've been stopped by women who asked for rides, something that's never happened in all my years of riding a solo motorcycle.

This rig is good on the highway, and has a trailer hitch too. My wife and I drove it 1300 miles through the Smoky Mountains, pulling a utility trailer with all of our camping gear in it. It's rock solid, and I wouldn't hesitate to ride it anywhere! These early K100's are bullet proof, and were so overbuilt that turbo kits can be fitted without changing anything in the engine.

The sidecar was originally constructed as a cargo box to carry camping gear, and comes with a lid to seal it again if you want to use it for cargo only. I have a seat and windshield mounted for passenger use at present.

You will never run into anyone else riding a rig like this! For half the price of an ancient technology Ural, you get a high performance sidecar rig that can run rings around any other sidecar rig you might meet!

BMW Sales Down 2.3% in First Half of 2012 but Record Finish Still Predicted

Fri, 06 Jul 2012

BMW predicts a record year for motorcycle sales despite a 2.3% dip over the first six months. The first half of 2012 saw BMW sell 59,189 units, down from the 60,580 units reported for the same period in 2011. The decrease is primarily because of a 13.2% drop in sales in June.

Drool-worthy new trials bike

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

THIS is the new Montesa Cota 4RT260 Factory, a sort of BMW HP4 of the trials world. Developed in collaboration with Honda, and the Repsol Montesa Honda Trials team, it’s got a 259cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine designed to compete with smaller two-strokes while producing less emissions. There are two versions, the £5,699 standard 4RT260, aimed at amateur-to-advanced riders, and the more competition-focussed Factory Race Replica version, with Showa suspension, at £6,799.
