BMW R-Series description

2005 BMW R 1200 RT, Very Clean three owner touring BMW in one of the best colors you could ask for, dark  gray metallic. Sold new from Bob's BMW in Maryland, and first delivered in April 2005, it had almost no issues during or after factory warranty period that Bob's could document.  Bob's serviced this bike initially and then consistently since 2009 as the original owner moved back out and then back into the area. This bike was placed in the highly capable and respected hands of the Certified BMW Technicians at Bob's for a complete going over and it arrived with a full service including the annual being performed and new tires just under 2,000 miles earlier this summer. Bob's just did a complete inspection of this bike and even though BMW now recommends oil changes every 60000 miles they are a bit old fashioned and think its a good investment to do them every 3000 - 4000 miles. Now many wold have simply passed this bike along as it is and not said a word but they don't operate like that.  Everything else was and is fully up to date for quite some time and mileage and with nearly new tires that show 90-95% of their tread remaining the cost of fresh tires is a long way off. They did note that the rear disc was right at factory and state mins so they installed a new BMW rear disc brake rotor and pads. This one also arrived with a crack in the headlight which is a large one piece component that is far from inexpensive, it has been replaced with a new BMW unit. They also fixed a small scrape on the front fairing panel - it was removed and professionally refinished and looks perfect again. They topped off the Nitrogen in both tires and replaced the Powerlet accessory outlet and cleaned and lubricated the saddlebag latches so they operate really smoothly.  They took care of 2 outstanding BMW recalls, one being a new fuel pump, carries a 2 years parts and 1 year labor warranty.  The other was a rear wheel flange recall. They addressed a small number of items they felt the bike required to be near perfect mechanically....then took it out for an extended test drive before completing their Evaluation and the Maryland Safety inspection process to qualify the bike for their Exclusive Advantage Certified program. Includes ABS, heated seats, heated grips, electronic cruise control, and the on board computer, has a BMW Professional stereo with radio and CD player, plus the chrome exhaust pipes. Electrically adjustable windscreen came standard. It has a set of BMW cylinder head protectors, factory quick remove tank bag, beautiful and comfortable J-Pegs that hide on the cylinder heads like the original spark plug covers, PIAA driving lights and GIVI trunk with backrest, replacement Cee Bailey screen and P3 lights. In summary this is a very clean bike - refurbished completely by Bob's BMW in winter 2015, ready to ride!

Thu, 19 Apr 2012

The Piaggio X10 slipped a little under the radar at the 2011 EICMA show behind other maxi-scooters such as Yamaha’s T-Max, BMW’s C650GT and C600 Sport and Piaggio’s own Aprilia SRV850. But take a look at some of the features Piaggio’s slapped onto the X10 and you’ll soon learn it’s not to be underestimated. The new flagship of Piaggio’s “Gran Turismo” scooter family, the X10 is equipped with anti-lock brakes anti-slip regulation (i.e.

Every year in the motorcycling world there are a few new motorcycles that gather the collective interest of enthusiasts across the country. This year those two models included the new entry-level sportbike from Honda, the CBR250R, and the new luxo-touring bike from BMW, the K1600GT and K1600GTL. While enthusiasts are gearing up for delivery of their new bikes there is a place for them to enthusiastically discuss their new purchase, or perhaps, for those who have not yet purchased, a sounding board for their thoughts.

2010 BMW S1000RR – First Ride

Fri, 20 Nov 2009

UPDATE:  Full Review now on Motorcycle.com (with video) We just spent the day ripping it up around the fabulous Portimao race circuit in Portugal on BMW’s new S1000RR supersport literbike, and it’s set to blow away perceptions of what a BMW motorcycle is. With 193 crankshaft horsepower and a claimed dry weight of 404 pounds, BMW says the S1000RR has the best power-to-weight ratio of any production bike. And, by the way the S1000 lofts its front wheel onto Portimao’s front straight at 150 mph, we’re becoming believers!
