Buell Lightning description

2003 Buell Lightning CITYX XB9SX, 2003 Buell XB9S for sale. 984cc, lots of great low end torque and one of the best handling bikes out there with the short wheel base. 24,615 miles. Black in color. Owned for 2 years, great bike. Selling for $2900. Lots of cool technology on this bike, some unique to buell: Frame/gas tank combo, swingarm/ oil res combo, mass centralization, short wheel base, bottom exhaust, Zero Torsional Load (ZTL) perimeter floating front disc brake system. I've set up the bike so it is more comfortable and consider it a "sport-touring" / street bike hybrid. Not original to the bike are Hand guards (from a buell city-x), 1" handlebar riser, black braced handle bar (from a buell city-x), and Zero Gravity Touring Windscreen (Still have original) Bike has lots of other extras: On the bike I have a K&N air filter (recharged at 22.2k), XB12 airbox cover (have original airbox), Right Side Air Scoop (have original), Frame pucks, American Sportbike front turn signals, Integrated LED taillight and signals, Smoked tail light (have original red), Kawasaki Versys mirrors, Breather Re-Route with Aluminum catch can, Headlight grille, Lucas Oil synth, I also have an extra set of balls racing front wheel bearings, Clutch bearing, ECM/ USB cable, misc screws gaskets and parts, original cheesegrater (replaced with all black city-X), Official factory Manual. Recorded Maintenance (other than regular oil changes): Replaced Spark Plugs at 12.1k Replaced Fork oil at 12.7k Neutral Switch at 13.8k Front Wheel bearings at 18.3k Rear Wheel bearings at 22.2k Last Oil Change at 22.2k (Lucas Oil Synthetic) Both Tires were replaced with Perilli Diablos at 18.3K, front is still in great shape, rear tire may need replaced mid season. There is some slight rash on the right side rear swing arm (see picture). This is from the bike sliding out from under me on a gravel driveway at 2-4 mph. Previous owner had dropped the bike at stand-still and I was told the frame was scratched up. Previous owner then got frame pucks for the bike which completely cover any of the damage. I even forget what side he said the damage was on. Would like to sell the bike soon but don't necessarily need to. Thanks for looking! $2,900.00

Results From Day 2 Of World Superbike Testing At Phillip Island

Tue, 18 Feb 2014

World Superbike testing at Phillip Island came to a close today, and when the dust settled, reigning champion Tom Sykes stamped his authority, setting the fastest time of the test at 1:30.239, just five thousandths shy of the outright lap record held by Carlos Checa. The time was set during the morning session of testing, though nobody was able to best Sykes for the remainder of the day. Eugene Laverty, who was fastest on day one, showed his pace was no fluke as he stayed near the top of the time sheets, ultimately finishing second behind Sykes, with a best time of 1:30.513.

Erik Buell Racing has received a $20 million injection from investors. The increased funding is expected to expand the company’s product line and create about 200 jobs. The investment comes through the somewhat fittingly-named “EB-5” program, a product of the Immigrant Act of 1990 designed to encourage investment in American companies by potential immigrants.

Eugene Laverty, aboard his Voltcom Crescent Suzuki GSX-R1000, led the field today as the first day of World Superbike testing got underway at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia, site of the first race of the 2014 season. Under sunny skies and perfect weather conditions, Laverty adapted quickly to his new ride after spending last season aboard the Aprilia RSV4 Factory. The Suzuki offered incredible feedback and allowed him to push right out of the gates, ultimately setting a fastest lap time of 1:30.513.
