Harley-Davidson Softail description
Hello, For sale is my 2007 Harley Davidson Softail Night Train
(FXSTB). I’m the second owner, and purchased the bike in March of 2010 with
6,393 miles. This bike has provided me 3.5 years of absolute joy, but the time
has come to sell it now that my daughter is getting older and my spare time is decreasing
at an alarming rate, and my current job is not conducive with motorcycle
commuting. The 9,000+ miles I’ve driven it consist of commuting to
work, solo trips to Fayetteville, AR, St. Louis, MO, Lake Ozark, MO, and other,
less significant trips. It’s been used exclusively for its intended purpose –
cruising comfortably while looking good. It hasn’t failed me once. I AM NOT the guy you see revving his engine at stop lights,
banging the engine off the rev limiter, doing burnouts, or leaving each stop
light as though the fuzz are on his tail. Quite honestly, I just don’t get any
of that. But, to each his/her own. I AM the guy who takes care of his
belongings -- I always let the bike warm up before taking off, and don’t rev it
much until the oil temp starts to rise. Likewise, the oil temp has never
exceeded 240 degrees under my ownership. All of this is to say that the bike
has been cared for, which shows. It was in excellent condition when I acquired it, and needed
virtually nothing. However, to be safe, I immediately replaced the transmission,
primary, and engine fluids with Amsoil. Since then, the primary and
transmission fluids have been changed once, and the engine oil has been changed
approximately every 2,000 miles. The oil filter was replaced with an Amsoil
unit with each oil change. It’s always garaged and kept clean, polished, waxed, etc. That
being said, I HAVE driven it in the rain at least a half dozen times. Also, it’s
sat out overnight multiple times while on trips. Nothing untoward has ever
happened, though. The bike is stock, with the following upgrades/add-ons: - Power Commander III Other mentionables: - Factory Smart Key (both fobs included) and Alarm System As mentioned, I’m a guy who’s meticulous about his
belongings, so I’ll nit-pick the bike just so there are no surprises… - The finish on the lip of the rear wheel is
less-than-perfect. It presents itself quite well and polishes up nicely, but is
notorious for premature clear coat fail after some use. Here's a link to a Youtube video of it being started last week for the first time in three months. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfQcw5DmtvM&feature=youtu.be I’ve listed the bike for sale locally, and reserve the right
to end the auction early. Shipping/pick up is the buyer's responsibility. I require contact and a $250 non refundable deposit within 48 hours of the auction end. The remainder of the payment is due within five days, and must be in the form of cash or a cashiers' check. There is no warranty expressed or implied.

- New rear Michelin Commander II tire 1,000 miles ago
- Amsoil engine/oil filter change less than 1,000 miles ago
- There is one chip (the only one on the bike) on the right hand side of the
tank the size of a small pencil eraser head. I’ve touched it up with genuine HD paint.
- The chrome on the right hand grip has started to pit.
- There's a spot on the top exhaust pipe shield that has light scuffing, likely due to a boot rubbing it. It was like
that when I bought it.
- It will likely need front pads in the near future. I believe I have spares.
If so, they will come with the bike.
- The Power Commander III brings with it an annoyance that occasionally causes
the bike to crank an extra time or two before firing. That’s it. It’s a common,
documented issue with the PCIII that has no ill effect on the motor or
performance. This bike has always started and run flawlessly. In fact, I
circumvent the annoyance by hitting the Start switch a second or two after
turning the Run switch on, as opposed to waiting for all of the idiot lights to
go out.
- If I think of something else, I’ll add it.
***PLEASE UNDERSTAND that I mention the above in the interest of being honest.
Many ads don’t cover this information, oftentimes implying that a product is in
perfect condition. My motorcycle isn’t perfect, but, after reading the above
and seeing the bike, you’d realize just how nitpicky I am! It’s CLOSE to
perfect. I just don’t like surprises as a buyer or a seller. That said, I
encourage you to ask questions about the condition, and will happily provide
additional photos and even videos.

Gymnast on a Harley….Wow.
Mon, 23 Mar 2009What happens when you take away a smokin’ hot gymnast’s balance beam and replace it with a Harley-Davidson Fat Bob? It’s only 30 seconds but who’s to stop you from playing it over and over again? Now what would be even more amazing is if there was a dude riding that bike on the highway while she did that. What would be a million times more amazing would be if that dude was me.
