This is a very nice 1 owner 1978 Honda CB550 K model bike originally from Madison, WI that was just restored over the summer.

It was bought new in 1978, ridden for 8 or 9 summers and put away in a garage where it sat for the last 25+ years.
The chrome is in beautiful condition, and virtually everything has been restored down to the nuts and bolts.

It looks even better in person than it does in the photos.

The following is the summary of 90+ hours of work that was done to it:

-Brand new paint on gas tank and side covers with new factory decals
-Frame & swing arm stripped, sanded, repainted and clear-coated.
-Engine was blasted, repainted in the same factory Honda silver
-All aluminum engine covers were removed and polished to a mirror finish
-All hardware was stripped and zinc plated
-Wheels were disassembled, hubs and brake backing plate polished, spokes stripped and zinc plated, re-laced and trued
-New Avon Speedmaster vintage style tires
-New rear shocks
-New chrome exhaust flanges
-Seat reupholstered
-New fork seals and fork oil
-New handlebars
-New Honda factory grips
-New clutch and brake levers
-New Motion Pro clutch, choke and throttle cables
-Carburetors were ultra-sonic cleaned and rebuilt w/ new parts from K & L
-New WPS 12N-12A-4A battery
-New WPS 530 drive chain
-New Honda factory petcock, new fuel lines and fuel filter
-New D7EA spark plugs & plug boots by NGK
-New Maxum 20w-50 oil and Emgo brand oil filter

-Brand new ignition switch and keys
-All the wiring was removed, harness and all connectors were inspected and thoroughly stripped of all corrosion and grime before being resintalled. This prolongs the life of all the components by eliminating heat-causing resistance throughout the system

-Ignition timing and engine valve clearances were adjusted to correct factory spec
-New front brake master cylinder
-Front brake caliper was disassembled, cleaned out, honed and rebuilt with new piston seal; the brake line was ultrasonic cleaned and flushed as well.
-New rear brake light lens
-New turn signal lenses

Runs and drives beautifully, charging system, all lights and buttons fully functional. Needs nothing and will not for a very long time.

Italian Authorities Seize Alleged Knockoffs from EICMA Show – Again

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

In what’s become somewhat of a dubious EICMA tradition, Italian authorities have seized scooters from various show exhibitors because their designs allegedly infringed on the designs of other manufacturers. Back in 2011, authorities seized a three-wheeled scooter called the Yiben YB 250 ZKT because it was deemed to resemble the Piaggio MP3. Last year, authorities seized six models from five exhibitors that allegedly infringed on the trademarked design of Vespa scooters.

Honda revealed the 2014 version of the MSX125 for Europe, introducing a new blue option, color-matching tail section and headlight side cover and various gold-colored components. We should expect to see similar color updates for the U.S. market where the bike will be considered the 2015 Honda Grom.

Honda CRF250L Confirmed for North America

Thu, 19 Apr 2012

American Honda and Honda Canada haven’t yet officially announced they will import the new Honda CRF250L, but the parent company has outed the dual-sport’s availability in North America. Honda has launched a new micro-site dedicated to the CRF250L describing its features including its CBR250R-derived engine. The section discussing the CRF250L’s muffler explicitly confirms an American and Canadian model, saying: “the model for the United States and Canada complies through additional settings for a spark arrestor.” The section on the CRF250L’s engine also confirms the dual-sport will be CARB-compliant, stating: “the power unit for the U.S.
