Honda Gold Wing description

THIS TRI-MAGNUM TRIKE WITH REVERSE GEAR HAS A TIMELESS EYE-CATCHING AERODYNAMIC DESIGN, AND IS READY TO RIDE. These trikes are desirable and hard to find! This vehicle is powered by a 1982 Honda Goldwing 1100 in very good running shape with only 43K miles. Assembled three years ago by its owner, a 40-year machine shop worker, the Tri-Magnum design plans were ordered from their originator, Robert Q. Riley Enterprises. It has a lightweight but stable fiberglass body, pop-up lights, multifunction GPS speedometer, REVERSE, and seating for two. Everything works. Tri-Magnum trikes were featured on the cover of Mechanix Illustrated (see photo.) This excerpt is from the magazine article:  "Driving Tri-Magnum is as unique as the vehicle itself. Shifting is done with the jet-fighter-style control stick that emerges from the floor between the occupants. The control stick carries the handlebar controls from the motorcycle, which are now stacked back-to-back against each other (one from each side of the handlebar) where they are within easy reach. The motorcycle clutch lever is also mounted on the control stick. To shift gears, grab the control stick, squeeze the clutch lever, then move the stick either forward or rearward, depending on whether you are up-shifting or down-shifting. The stick is connected via a short link to the foot-lever that is normally used to shift gears on the motorcycle, so the shift pattern is identical. Accelerator and brake pedals are mounted on the floor, just like those of a conventional automobile. Due to its forward-biased center of gravity, Tri-Magnum understeers, just like most conventional automobiles. Pushed in a turn, she will float to the outside, rather than spin out, unless of course you push past its limits. During a three-wheel-locked stop, Tri-Magnum's rear floats slightly to one side, then rights itself and floats slightly to the other side, with no tendency to swap ends. Because of its low center of gravity, which is located forward near the side-by-side wheels, the margin of safety against rollover is equivalent to a standard four-wheel family sedan." This vehicle is being considered for sale due to health reasons, and will sell for a fair price only. Much work and pride went into the building of this futuristic-looking and fun machine. Please write in with questions and leave a phone number if you wish to discuss reserve price or a possible Buy It Now added to the auction. I encourage very interested persons to contact me early. As with all my vehicle auctions, the winner must be happy in person with the vehicle, so bid with confidence. (No long joyrides please.)

FIM Updates Superbike Racing Homologation Lists for 2013

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

The International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) has released an updated list of motorcycles homologated for the 2013 Superbike, Supersport, and Superstock racing season. Notable additions include the new BMW S1000RR HP4, the MV Agusta F3 and the Superbike-spec Ducati 1199 Panigale R. To qualify a production-based racebike for FIM homologations, manufacturers have to meet certain production thresholds.

WSBK 2013: Moscow Race Report

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Marco Melandri captured his third win of the season, the Ducati 1199 Panigale scored its first podium while Sylvain Guintoli regained the championship lead despite dislocating his collarbone days before the race. But the big news at Moscow Raceway of course was the tragic death of Andrea Antonelli in the World Supersport race. The opening-lap crash in severely wet conditions naturally led to the cancellation of the rest of the events as the World Superbike community mourns the loss of the 25-year-old Antonelli.

Moto2 needs more radical bikes

Wed, 05 Sep 2012

Makers of fine exhausts, Taylormade Racing have built a Moto2 racer that harks back to the innovative machines like the Elf Honda 500 and Britten V1000. Since Moto2's inception in 2010 the class has featured bikes with conventional chassis but the Taylormade bike, designed by Paul Taylor and John Keogh, has a radical design featuring a carbon-fibre monocoque frame, carbon-fibre swingarm, wishbone monoshock front suspension and an under-seat radiator. However, with such radical engineering the inherent problem is that it is a risk for teams to invest in such a project.
