Honda Interceptor description

2000 Honda VFR 800 Interceptor. 68,867 miles. It has a rebuilt title - I bought it from a rider in Pittsburgh, PA in 2008 and had no problem registering it in Ohio. I never have had any problem with its performance at all. Just normal maintenance of tires, oil, brake/clutch fluid, coolant and brake pads. This thing fires up and runs strong.
I've ridden this bike all over the country and it's never disappointed. Bought it in 2009 with 43,000 miles on it in preparation for a trip to Nova Scotia. Since then I've ridden it to the Grand Canyon, West Virginia, Glacier National Park and all over Ohio. The VFR is such a blast - great mix of performance, sane seating position, beautiful V4 sound, and a real looker. But, if you're looking to buy one of these you know all of that.
The Good: strong engine, oil changed regularly with synthetic, stored in a garage at all times, Throttlemeister bar ends, Givi side racks and hard bags, 1 year old battery, rear mono shock replaced a couple of years ago - only has about 5,000 miles on it, clutch fluid and brake fluid flushed.
The Not So Good: the body work has scuffs and scratches because of tank bag, rear bag and various straps being used on long trips, there is a scratch on the left side of tank (there before I bought it) and a ding also on the left side, the bodywork attachment point on the lower right is missing (doesn't really affect anything - I have the attachment point which can be reattached with JB Weld), needs a new front and rear tire.
Other: Chain is good for another 10,000+ miles but needs to be cleaned. Tool bag tore during a trip and I lost a lot of the tools - including chain tension adjuster. Ugh. Needs a dashboard bulb.
Great bike for a great price. It's truly a timeless ride. I'm sure I'll miss it - but I'm eager to check out a new ride. Will consider offers but please no low ballers.
Test rides only with cash in hand.

Remember push starts?

Fri, 18 Nov 2011

Alongside the most stunning collection of race and road bikes at their Motegi museum, next to some race bikes, Honda also has a step by step guide on most aspects of riding. I photographed the wonderful text on push starting but I also have lots of equally hilarious instructions on cornering braking and even what a riders goal should be. Watch this space...... oh, and hopefully see you at the NEC over the next ten days!

Honda VFR1200F – First Impressions

Honda’s new VFR1200F in action at Sugo in Japan. UPDATE: 2010 Honda VFR1200F Review -  First Ride Article I’m here at the Sugo Sportsland racetrack in Japan, an odd place for what seems to be a sport-touring machine like the new VFR1200F. But my time at Sugo today was one of the most incredible riding experiences of my career.
