As a last ditch effort to stay alive Indian began manufacturing a 440 cc vertical twin Scout.

Some would say it was the bike that helped put Indian out of business.

This bike is a very good example of a 49 Scout that is a good and deserving candidate for a caring restoration. Polaris issued two separate recalls for 2009-2011 Indian motorcycles, one for a problem with the headlight and another with the kickstand.
