1949 Indian 440 Vertical Twin Scout

SEE MORE MOTORCYCLES AT: www.  dukes   motorcycles.ca

As a last ditch effort to stay alive Indian began manufacturing a 440 cc vertical twin Scout.

Some would say it was the bike that helped put Indian out of business.

This bike is a very good example of a 49 Scout that is a good and deserving candidate for a caring restoration. The bike has been painted at some point in its life. he bike appears to be mostly complete with speedometer, headlight, seat, all engine components, fenders, gas tank, chain guard, oil tank, taillight body, and lens, alloy luggage rack,

Incorrect mufflers and rear fender plates (on sides)

Not often available this bike would make a great addition to the Indian collector’s garage

We are an authorized Harley Davidson Retailer located in Canada, 45 minutes from Detroit and three hours from NY State.

Pick up at our facility is available at the discretion of the buyer or we provide customs paperwork, crating, and shipping at additional cost to the buyer. We reserve to end the auction early as this machine is being offered for sale by other means

International and domestic buyers welcomed.

Indian introduces new PowerPlus engine

Wed, 20 Nov 2019

The apparatus with a 60-degree camber of the cylinder block can hardly be called the “little brother” of the 1811cc Thunder Stroke 111 engine - its capacity is 1769cc, but in terms of design solutions, the motors are fundamentally different. Let's start with the fact that, according to the manufacturer, the new engine is the most powerful in its class - it develops 121hp at 5500rpm and 178 Nm at 3800 rpm. PowerPlus, like the Scout motor, has an overhead camshaft, is equipped with four valves per cylinder and hydraulic compensators, eliminating the need to adjust clearances, the cooling is liquid.

Two Recall Campaigns for 2009-2011 Indian Motorcycles

Mon, 11 Jul 2011

Polaris issued two separate recalls for 2009-2011 Indian motorcycles, one for a problem with the headlight and another with the kickstand. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the kickstands on 2009-2011 Indian motorcycles may not fold up and to the rear if the motorcycle is moving forward with the stand deployed. As a result, the kickstand fails to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No.
