KTM Teases New 1290 Naked Prototype Ahead of EICMA – Is This the New Super Duke?

KTM has released pictures of a new 1290cc naked prototype, the so-called “Beast” whose engine roar KTM revealed earlier in the week. To be officially unveiled next week at the 2012 EICMA show, the new model is still unnamed, though judging by the brief glimpses of its styling and the KTM North American dealer meeting slide that leaked earlier this year, we’re pretty sure this new prototype will eventually become the KTM 1290 Super Duke. 2014 KTM Freeride 250R – Two-Stroke Power in a 204-Pound Package

Back in 2011, KTM introduced a new entry-level off-road model called the Freeride 350 with an astounding light claimed weight of just 218 pounds. Three years later, the Austrian has followed it up with a new 249cc two-stroke version claiming an even lighter 204 pounds. The new Freeride 250R becomes the third member of KTM’s Freeride family alongside the 350 and the electric Freeride E.

Day 9 Dakar 2014: Coma Wins, Increases Overall Lead

The ninth stage took the field to the northernmost point of this year’s Dakar. The riders descended from yesterday’s plateau through the Atacama desert towards the Pacific Ocean. Sand and dunes challenged the athletes especially in the final third of the stage, demanding excellent navigation skills.
