KTM Ready to Race Again, Entering Moto3 Class in 2012

KTM announced it will return to Grand Prix road racing in 2012 with a new racebike for the new 250cc four-stroke Moto3 class. The Austrian manufacturer discontinued its Grand Prix road racing program in 2009, withdrawing from the 125cc class (pictured above is current Moto2 racer Marc Marquez racing for the KTM factory team in the 2009 125cc class). With the Moto3 class set to replace the 125cc class in 2012, KTM will return with a new racebike.

You know it’s a tough race when less than 2% of the starters make it to the finish. That’s what happened this Sunday at Austria’s Iron Mountain for the 2012 Red Bull Hare Scramble. KTM factory rider Jonny Walker was the first of just seven competitors to make it to the top in the 3.5-hour time limit out of a field of 500 entries.

I don't know much about this bike but I think it's based around a KTM LC4 640 engine. I stumbled across it while searching Google and thought it was worth sharing. It's a work of art and possibly an RC640, long before KTM had even thought of putting their engines into a sportsbike.
