Moto Guzzi V700 description

This is a stunning example of the first transverse V-twin Moto Guzzi.  The V700 was first sold in the US as a 1967 model and served as the basis for the succeeding Ambassador and Eldorado models, all with the loop-shaped frame.

The bike offered here was restored several years ago and is in very nice condition with only 9400 miles since the restoration.  Everything is retained in stock form including the SS1 carbs that work great and the old-style "big outlet hole" mufflers.  The engine is the smoothest-running loop-frame motor I've ever ridden and the four-speed transmission rolls right through the gears with no drama.  Obviously, someone performed a good engine rebuild and shimmed the transmission internals to make it work so nicely. The bike is very capable of attaining it's original top speed in excess of 100 mph.

Everything functions properly.  A modern halogen headlamp has replaced the old, yellow-burning original bulb with direct-feed wiring and relays to avoid over-taxing the stock CEV handlebar switches.

Overall, the bike is impressive.  If you look closely, you can find a few paint imperfections, a small dent on the inside of one of the fork leg covers and some rust specks on the left muffler but the motorcycle looks great and runs even better.  I hate to part with it but my collection has swelled again and I am forced to let something go.  Too much to maintain.

Recently, a full service was completed that changed all fluids, made valve lash adjustments, brake adjustments and a general inspection.  Brand-new Dunlop tires have been fitted. It's ready to ride anywhere. It is fully capable of running at modern legal highway speeds as well as a making a few intentional transgressions above those limits.

This is a very pleasant machine to ride.

These early bikes had both frame numbers and engine numbers instead of one VIN.

Engine 1111, Frame 1036,  all-original

Rather than go through all the drama of an auction, I've set a VERY reasonable and minimum price that will be a good deal for anyone interested.

The Hollywood actor became the representative of the Moto Guzzi tour enduro

Wed, 12 Jun 2019

In fact, our old sport Ewan McGregor is not only a Hollywood star but also a big fan of motorcycles, including Moto Guzzi products. In 2013, he was honored to represent the California 1400 and is now an ambassador for the V85 TT touring enduro (Tutto Terreno). The V85 TT is an interesting and powerful model that has been ordered by more than ten thousand bikers around the world even before its introduction.

EICMA 2008: First Impressions

Mon, 03 Nov 2008

I have had a little walk around checking out the preparations for the show. I haven’t seen anything that I haven’t already seen or heard about previously, but here’s a selection from three of the halls. Yamaha are the only manufacturer to use an industrial crane to place some of its bikes up on high rise stands.
