Norton Commando description

1970 Norton Commando 750 , This is a super rare one of a kind custom race bike and you have the opportunity to own it! Ed Labelle was the owner, builder, and rider of this beautiful record holding Norton. He applied his trade from the 1940's until his recent passing. He is well known for his expertise with English machinery, and his former shop in West Philadelphia was like a Mecca to those fascinated by British style motorcycles. Ed's Norton reigned as Eastern National Champion in all four years that he entered with this bike. Ed began the Norton's construction with a lightweight duplex frame that he designed and built out of Titanium 81 or (T81). It has a 750cc Norton motor that retains its original displacement class and boasts a now impossible to find Norris cam. It also has polished and lightened valves, Venolia pistons, and Dunstall pipes. The spark is provided by a ARD mag and rare unobtainable Amal carbs. The oil bag is stock Norton. It has a dry clutch with a Norton racing gearbox. The front tire is a 2.75x19 Avon and the alloy wheel and brake have been taken from an old Motor Parilla. It also comes with a spare rear wheel with a 4 drag slick. The forks are Ceriani and include friction and hydraulic dampers for increased stability. The seat and fender are fiberglass. Race ready this bike weighs in at just over 300 pounds. Track times in the 1/4 mile are just above 12 seconds with a trap time of 112 on gas fuel. This is a one of a kind opportunity to own a famous bike! Price is negotiable. Personal delivery by the owner Vincent Labelle is possible and delivery or shipping is negotiable as well. The visit saw the Duke astride numerous motorcycle models including UK icons Norton and Triumph as well as a Ducati 1199 Superleggera (one of the few men able to afford the $70,000 rarity). During his visit Prince William enjoyed a display of off-road riding – one of nine opportunities for visitors to ride at Motorcycle Live, eight of which are inside the halls of the NEC. He also met Dean Linehan, exhibitions director of MCI Exhibitions, the company that organizes the annual motorcycle exhibition.
