Hot Rod Sachs MadAss 125 with 201cc engine

The Sachs MadAss 125 is a German engineered beast of a two-wheeler, packing a 125cc engine, a hydraulic fork front suspension, a unique frame that sends shock from the rear wheel to the front for a smoother ride, an in-frame fuel tank, twin halogen projector headlights, 16-inch alloy rims, dual disc brakes, and a dry weight of just 220 lbs.

As much fun as it is stock, I wasn't satisfied with the stock 125's 8 HP. It could do 55 MPH as advertised, but slowed horribly on hills. So, I contacted Terry at FirePowerMinis.net to buy either a big-bore kit for the stock motor, or a larger bore motor. The motor on this bike started with a YX160, one of the best motors in this form factor. But I didn't stop there, this one has:

  • TB 67mm Big bore cylinder and piston for a displacement of 201cc
  • TB V2.0 Race Head, higher compression, and more flow = more power
  • Takegawa Automatic Decompressions Cam -- so a mortal like me can actually start this beast
  • Keihin PE28 28mm Carburetor
  • Muffer modified by Moto-Scoot.net for higher flow and power
  • Changed gearing from stock 14:46 to 17:39 for higher top speed
  • Power output in the range of 20-24 HP.

The result is a fast, fun, lightweight, 70 MPG bike with 70 MPH capability, and, more importantly, unlike the stock 125, it laughs at hills and headwinds, making it truly as capable as any full-sized motorcycle. Big-bike performance in a small scooter-sized package -- but way cooler, and more fun to ride than a scooter.

At only 220 lbs, it is a great size & weight to put on a hitch mounted rack on the back of your RV for transportation at you destination.

It only has 600 miles total, and only 300 of that on the new engine.

The stock Madass 125 has an MSRP of $2,800. The asking price on this one is only $100 more at $2,900. The engine conversion cost over $1,600. It also has a nice stainless steel rack ($90) to hold your top case or milk crate so, you can use it to run all your light errands.
