Triumph Daytona description

Beautiful unmolested adult owned 2003 Triumph 955i Daytona with only 2,818 original miles.

Original sticker price on these was around $12,000, get this one at half that!

This is as close to new as you will find one of these Daytonas, it has not been modified from stock or chopped up or abused. This is not a beginners motorcycle, it will need a more experienced rider.

I currently own 3 motorcycles and need to make some room! I had the opportunity to buy this one and couldn't refuse. (older owner, 54 years old) Previous owner was in his 60's.

I purchased the motorcycle last year with 2,750 miles on it and replaced the following as a good measure:

Tires (Shinko 009 Radials) Not replaced for wear, but for age of originals. These tires don't even have 100 miles on them!
Coolant (Fuchs)
Oil and filter (Mobil 1 Synthetic per owners manual)
Brake Fluid DOT 4 front and rear

The battery was replaced last year by previous owner.

Motorcycle starts, idles, shifts, runs like new. No smoke, no noises, no surprises. Starts right up with its fuel injection system.

All electricals perfect.

Paint still looks incredible as motorcycle has always been stored indoors and never ridden in the rain. No rust, no corrosion issues. No paint scratches, no dings, no fuel stains.

The only real defect on the motorcycle is 3 small rock chips on the rear fender under the license plate, which could probably be blended and not seen. I have shown them in one of the photos.

Windscreen still looks new, no hazing, no cracks, no swirl marks, clear as can be.

I added a couple of tasteful vinyl graphics which can be removed by peeling them off. In the photos you will see Hap Jones seagulls on the side fairings, a "Made in England" label on the tank, a tire pressure reminder arrow and Triumph RAT insignia on the upper triple clamp. Again all simple vinyl, not permanent.

Exhaust system is stock, still looks new. No rash, no dents, no scratches.

Original key set, owners manual, and tool kit all there.

This is a gorgeous motorcycle that will get looks wherever it goes, rides very smooth. I have ridden it very little, mostly on a country road near my house at legal speeds.

500.00 deposit due at auction close, remainder in cash or Paypal.

If you would like to see the motorcycle in person, let me know and I can arrange a time. I am located on the NC coast close to Jacksonville, NC.

Shipping will be responsibility of buyer, I can store the motorcycle in my garage for a reasonable time while awaiting pick up. If you live on the east coast near I-95 I can recommend an excellent and fast shipper, get in touch with me and I can pass that info to you.

Any questions, please ask, glad to respond.

Looking after number 1

Fri, 06 Jan 2012

There was a time when a rider’s number indicated his position from the previous season, with the ultimate accolade being the number 1 emblazoned on the front of the champion's bike. The rise of branding in MotoGP and a rider wanting to market themselves, born from Barry Sheene and his retention of no.7, saw riders decide against displaying their finish from the year before. Rossi, who on winning his numerous championships, stuck with his famous #46 in defence of his titles, instead of stamping a great number 1 on his bikes.

Laguna Seca Added to 2014 AMA Superbike Schedule

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

AMA Superbike will be racing at Laguna Seca this year after all, with AMA Pro Racing announced the addition of the Monterey, Calif., circuit to its 2014 schedule, joining the World Superbike Championship on July 11-13. Laguna Seca was not included in AMA Pro Racing’s calendar, but its addition now increases the number of rounds in the series to six. That’s still down from the nine rounds held in 2013, but the absence of Laguna Seca and its famed Corkscrew would have been an especially tough loss.

NHTSA Launches Recall Look-up by VIN Tool

The U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have launched a new free online tool that should make it easier for consumers to inspect their vehicles’ safety recall histories. The new search tool, available at http://www.safercar.gov/vinlookup, allows people to look for recall campaigns by entering Vehicle Identification Numbers.
