Triumph Sprint description

2001 Triumph Sprint ST, This is a truly outstanding all-around bike - runs as good as it did when new - great for commuting, cruising, and touring. It is fast and sporty when you want, relaxed when you want, and always comfortable. I'm the second owner of this bike and have had it for 10 years (bought it with 1100 miles on it). The original owner was an old(er) guy like me. This is/was my first bike and I've REALLY enjoyed it. I'm selling it because I recently bought a BMW K1200LT for road trips and I'm looking for something different. The PowerMax underseat exhaust shows off the single-sided swingarm which Triumph finally figured out on later models. The sound is louder than stock, but not obnoxious. Must see and hear! $3000 Specs 2001 Triumph Sprint ST 955cc 27,500mi Always garaged with battery tender Always dealer serviced (I can provide records) Extras Throttlemeister cruise control bar ends Powermax underseat exhaust Race-Tech Gold Spring emulators ZX-7R 6pot front calipers Stebel horn Flashing brake light Soft saddlebags and removable mounting accessories included Tank bag included Carbon fiber tank protector $3,000.00 7137804481

New: Venhill 888 fast-action twistgrips

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

CONTROL specialist Venhill has launched its new 888 range of bike-specific fast action twistgrips.  Supplied complete with the company's top of the range Featherlight cables, the kits are designed for a straightforward replacement of the factory-fitted equipment.  Bike-specific kits are now available for the Honda CBR600F, Kawasaki ZX-6R/ZX-10R, Suzuki GSX-R600/750, Triumph 675 Daytona and Yamaha R1/R6, among others, with prices from £105. Here's Venhill's description of the new product: "Manufactured with a robust CNC machined alloy body, the 888 fast action twistgrip provides a choice of two settings and is supplied with two rotors so that riders can select the throttle action that best suits the riding conditions.  Settings can be changed swiftly by undoing the two set screws securing the throttle body and changing the rotor. On the fastest setting there is 80° of rotation, (taking up 36mm of the cable), which is typically 45% faster than 'standard' throttles.

Classic Off-Road Bikes Featured in Braving Baja: 1,000 Miles to Glory Exhibition

Sat, 06 Apr 2013

Back in the 60s, American Honda tested the durability of its motorcycles by sending a CL72 Scrambler on a 950-mile trek through rocks, sand washes, dry lake beds, mountain passes and paved roads. Fifty years later, that legendary run is remembered for inspiring one of the most significant off-road races in the world—the Baja 1000. In celebration, the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is hosting a tribute dinner, one-day off road show, and summer-long exhibition called Braving Baja, 1,000 Miles to Glory.

Buddy Holly, Ariel Cyclone, 1958

Above is some fantastic home movie footage of Buddy Holly and the Crickets messing around on motorbikes in 1958. The story behind the bikes in the video starts after Buddy Holly, Joe Mauldin and Jerry Allison came back from a successful tour in 1958, flush with cash. The trio decided to spend their rock and roll dollars on brand new motorcycles.
