Yamaha Other description

44 CRYSTAL AVE Derry Cycle is selling a 2007 Yamaha Majesty (Model # YP400WL) in blue with only 4,790 mis on the odometer. This is 1 of those bikes that is part scooter and part motorcycle, meaning it has a scooter "step through" design and automatic transmission but has a fullsize frame and engine like a regular motorcycle. Because of that, you can not only ride around town, but you can also get up on the highway and cruise at higher speeds. The Majesty is fuel injected and Yamaha rates the fuel economy at 50MPG. If you are driving a truck or SPORT UTILITY VEHICLE, it can pay for it'self in fuel savings in a reasonable amount of time. This particular Majesty has been well cared for both cosmetically and mechanically. It sarts easily, and runs & drives just as it should. The bike is completely stock and unmolested by any backyard "mechanics" It has a very large underseat storage container and 2 smaller ones up front. New ones are running close to $7,000 nowerdays, so you can get a nice pre-owned 1 here and have just as much fun for half the price. The service department has gone through every major and minor system on the bike as required by their 153 point comprehensive inspection process, and she passed with flying colors. We work with nine different credit unions to offer financing, and we are accepting trade ins toward the purchase of this bike. Please email or call Ken @ with any questions you have. We also purchase Harleys, Sportbikes, and ATV's for CA$H.www.derrycycle.com to see more images of this bike, and look at all of our bikesThank you

The horrendous reality of restoring a 'classic'

Tue, 31 Aug 2010

It was with much excitement – displaced or not – that my freshly rebuilt 1976 SR500 Yamaha fired into life at the second kick this weekend. I say second kick. It was actually the thirty second kick – thirty of those spent frothing up a heady sweat until I realised the main fuel pipe was kinked to buggery.

Suzuka Eight Hour capers

Mon, 05 Sep 2011

Chatting to TT legend John McGuiness recently about his first Suzuka Eight Hour experience got me thinking of a few capers the boys and me managed a few years back at what is still Japan's most important race of the season. It is a unique event that starts at 11am and finishes at 7pm making  it a pukka endurance race as the last hour is run with headlights on in the dark. It is essentially an eight hour sprint that showcases the trickest endurance machinery and manufacturer’s sales can be affected the following year depending on who wins or loses.
