UP FOR BID IS MY 1974 YAMAHA RD 350  TORQUE INDUCTION 6 SPEED MOTORCYLE. I HAVE OWN THIS BIKE SINCE NEW AND HAVE THE ORIGINAL BILL OF SALE. CYCLE HAS NOT BEEN LICENSE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS AND ITS BEEN SITTING IN STORAGE AND NOW IT IS TIME TO GO. IT PROBABLY COULD USE A TUNE-UP, CHAIN AND SPROCKET AND TIRES. THERE ARE SOME FLAWS, DENT IN FRONT FENDER, SMALL DING IN GAS TANK, MISSING REFLECTOR ON BACK, AND VERY MINOR SURFACE RUST ON FRAME. I HAVE HAD IT RUNNING AND DROVE IT AROUND THE YARD. A GREAT BIKE TO RESTORE OR DRIVE. IT USE TO GET ABOUT 38 MPG AND 105 MPH. NOT TO THRILLED TO SELL BUT HOSPITAL BILLS NEED TO BE PAID. ITEM IS SOLD AS IS. Rumor Mill: Yamaha To Make R400 and R650

Yamaha is set to put into production two new sporty bikes — the R400 and R650 —  according to “Young Machine” a Japanese motorcycle magazine. If true, this would fill a huge void in the manufacturer’s beginner sportbike bike lineup. It would make sense, considering the success of Suzuki’s SV650 (which later morphed into the Gladius and is now the SFV650), Kawasaki’s Ninja 650 (ER-6 in other markets), and even Honda’s CBR500R.

Spearheaded by the top-selling BMW R1200GS, the segment has seen a flood of imitators such as the Triumph Tiger Explorer, Yamaha Super Ténéré and the Honda Crosstourer. A recent report from the Motorcycle Industry Council found that scooter sales are also on the rise in the U.S., spurred on by soaring gas prices.

The news will impact several major manufacturers hoping to gain a stake in the world’s second largest motorcycle market. India has become the hotspot for manufacturers but one of the biggest obstacles they face is the duty India levies on luxury goods.
