Yamaha Road Star description

2012 Yamaha Road Star S, 2012 Yamaha Road Star S
Built to perform and customize like noting else. The Road Star S is one of the most customized air-cooled V-twins in the business... and with a god reason too. It simply looks good, due mostly to the classic appeal of that hardtail-looking hardware that goes with it. The Road Star S gets even more chrome switgear, front brake master cylinder, front forks and levers.

Features

The Road Star S gets chrome accents to the front end and Stainless Steel braided throttle and clutch cables, front fork and levers.
Electronic fuel injection provides easy cold starting and flawless fuel delivery at nearly all altitudes and in nearly any conditions.
102-cubic-inch (1670cc) V-twin powered beauty in a long and low hardtail-look frame, with plenty of customization potential built in. Modern engineering and materials, including ceramic-composite cylinder liners for superior heat dissipation.
Air cooling, hydraulic valve lifters, and belt final drive reduce maintenance requirements to a minimum.
Estimated 36 mpg* means this cruiser is in for a long haul between fill-ups.
Industry-leading Star family fit and finish mean lustrous paint and extensive chrome accents that create a machine as stunning as it is powerful.
Ultra-thin, tank-mounted speedometer features a stylish design and provides easy reading of odometer, dual tripmeters, clock and fuel gauge as well as low fuel, high beam, turn signal, neutral and engine diagnostic indicator lights.
LED taillight and clear turn signal lenses with amber bulbs for a custom look, great visibility and reduced current draw.
Full-size floating-type rider floorboards with replaceable wear pad are roomy and comfortable.
A two-piece heel/toe shifter and braided stainless clutch and throttle cables add even more comfort and style.
4.8-gallon fuel tank with low-fuel warning light means exceptional cruising range.

In order to use footage from a Dorna-sanctioned MotoGP test session — say, for marketing or promotional reasons — a team must receive approval from Dorna. The process is tedious, and even if permission is granted, there are strict limitations as to what the material may or may not be used for. So when Honda decided to conduct its own private test (which Yamaha also joined), at the Circuit of the Americas, it was free from any and all Dorna mandates.

Pikes Peak 87th Annual International Hill Climb [pics and video]

Fri, 15 May 2009

Named after a man by the name of Zebulon Pike, an explorer who led an expedition to the area in 1806, Pikes Peak is home to the second oldest motorsports race in America second only to the Indianapolis 500. First completed in 1916, this year marks the 87th running of the “Race to the Clouds.” If the math doesn’t add up, this is because there were several years that the event did not run over the course of its 93 year history. The 12.4 mile trek up the mountain consists of 156 treacherous turns to an elevation of 14,110 feet.
