Yamaha Reports Q1 2012 Results

Yamaha reported a 5.3% decrease in worldwide motorcycle sales over the first quarter of 2012 despite a 25% increase in North American sales. In the quarter ended March 31, 2012, Yamaha sold 1.599 million motorcycles worldwide, down from 1.689 million motorcycles sold over the same quarter in 2011. Most of the decline was due to Yamaha’s performance in the Asian market.

Yamaha Teases R25 / R3 and Tricity Reveal on March 25

Yamaha released a new microsite teasing the launch of two models, expected to be the production versions of the YZF-R25 (or perhaps YZF-R3 for certain markets) and the Tricity leaning three-wheeled scooter. Yamaha Developing 250cc Sportbike for India in 2014

Yamaha has been rumored to be working on a 250cc sportbike for quite some time now. In fact, the other three members of the Japanese Big Four have launched new models in the small-displacement segment in recent years, but none of these new generation small-displacement bikes bear Yamaha‘s crossed tuning fork logo. That may change by 2014 however.
