A Name In Custom Motorcycles You Should Remember: Rajputana

Mon, 20 May 2013

If you think the world’s best custom motorcycles are made in the good ‘ol U.S. of A., then you clearly haven’t taken a look in India’s direction. Yes, India.

This custom machine comes from Rajputana Custom Motorcycles, in Jaipur, India. It was entered in the Indian Bike Week 2013 Biker Buildoff, where it won first place honors. Looking at the gallery below, it’s easy to see why: the attention to detail is outstanding. Its minimalist design combined with the subtle touches of chrome, gold and copper, all complement the stitching and engraving done on the saddle and levers.

Unlike some custom bike builders in the States, who rely on a rather small team of specialists to work on certain aspects of the motorcycle, the Rajputana team, led by founder Vijay Singh, is more like a group of pals working on putting together a motorcycle, one section at a time, as seen in the accompanying video.

There aren’t many details on the bike from what we can tell. The single cylinder engine is housed in a beautiful frame with spiral-type spars. There’s a springer front end with a rigid rear housing a rather fat tire. Singh is a custom bike builder to the core, whether someone wants their existing bike modified, or a complete ground-up custom, he’s willing to do it all. We can’t wait to see what he and his team come up with next.
