Harley-Davidson Motorclothes Turns to 3M For Conspicuous Riding Gear

Motorcyclists should always be concerned with their conspicuity. Never is this more important than in the rain or after dark where vision is severely limited. The Motorclothes division of Harley-Davidson decided highlight its riding gear – literally.

First, 3M’s Scotchlite Reflective Material was chosen because of the extremely high percentage of light returned to its source when compared to other material. What that means to riders is that their riding gear will light up in car headlights to a claimed distance of “up to 500 feet.” When added to Motorclothes typically high-quality construction, the reflective gear will keep Harley riders on the road safely and with a style to match their motorcycles. High Tail Colorblocked Hi-Vis Rain Suit (P/N 98337–15VM) is a sturdy jacket and pants set constructed of 100 percent nylon ripstop fabric. A polyester mesh lining adds comfort wile the jacket features a storable hood. To prevent the dreaded pipe melt, the pants include heat-resistant materials on the lower, inner legs. An elastic waist band and removable suspenders provide a proper fit for a variety of body shapes. The Medallion Reflective Riding Jacket (P/N 98082–15VM) uses waterproof 600 denier polyester for its exterior shell and couples it with a breathable nylon shell. A pair of zippered vents in both front and rear of the jacket helps keep the rider cool in dry weather. The collar contains a rain hood that can be worn under the helmet to prevent the slow torture of the down-the-back-drip. The women’s Skull Illumination Riding Jacket (P/N 98089–15VW) stylishly features 3M Scotchlite in the piping, sleeves, panels and graphics for excellent nighttime visibility. Cooling airflow is offered by two-way zippered wraparound vents. The jacket’s fit can be fine-tuned via buckle waist tabs and a bungee cord toggle waist.
