My favourite ever BSB brolly dolly has to be Keith Flint. He joined me on the grid back in 1997 at Brands Hatch before I nailed down my second championship with two race wins. A nicer bloke you couldn't ever wish to meet so it’s good to see him out and about regularly on his Crescent Suzuki prepared GSXR 1000. I did some instructing with him at Donington recently and he’s certainly no slouch these days so maybe some club racing could be on the cards soon?

The kind people at Moto Direct sent me a new KBC Alien (one of their least scary designs) helmet the other day along with a request for some honest feedback, so here goes. It was lighter than any AGVs I’ve worn recently, just as comfy and the forward vision while tucked in was definitely better. The top vents worked well, however I couldn’t decide if the front ones made much difference as either open or closed  I had the same amount of air circulating in front of my face. The best bit with this helmet is how stupidly easy the visor is to change; one click on the side pods and it’s off, a gentle push and it’s back in place.  It seems good value at £159.99 so I’ll keep you posted on how it stands up to the relentless everyday abuse in Mackenzie world.
