Suzuki Pushes MotoGP Return Back to 2015

Mon, 17 Jun 2013

The good news is Suzuki revealed the first official images of its new MotoGP prototype racer. The bad news is the Japanese manufacturer announced it is delaying its MotoGP return for another year, now targeting a comeback for the 2015 season.

When Suzuki first announced its withdrawal from the MotoGP championship in 2011, the plan was to return for the 2014 season. The new MotoGP project has been under development for the last few years, and Randy de Puniet has been tabbed to ride the new machine alongside other MotoGP teams in this week’s official test at Catalunya.

It seems however Suzuki will need a bit more time for further development and refinement.

The news may be disappointing to Suzuki fans, especially those who long for a return to the brand’s championship ways of the late ’70s and early ’80s. But if the extra time helps Suzuki become more competitive, the wait may be worth it.
