Triumph Announces Sprint GT SE and New Colors for Thunderbird, Tiger Explorer and Street Triple for UK

Wed, 05 Jun 2013

Triumph has announced new color options for the U.K. for several models as well as a new special edition version of the Sprint GT. Triumph North America has not confirmed whether these options will be offered on this side of the Atlantic. We expect an official announcement about these and any other color options to come later this summer. The introduction of Triumph’s new Trophy has displaced the Sprint GT from the American lineup, but perhaps this new SE version might elbow its way back.

The Triumph Thunderbird receive two new colors in the UK market, Lava Red and Silver Frost both with new silver fin styling to the upper cylinder head and lower barrels of the 1597cc parallel-twin engine. The Thunderbird Storm gets the same engine styling update as well as four color options: Matt Black, Matt Graphite, Jet Black and Silver Marble (pictured above) colors.

The Triumph Sprint GT SE will be offered in Cranberry Red or Champagne and will come standard with a gel seat, touring screen, heated grips and a new top box / back rest pad that increases total storage capacity to 117 liters.

The SE version is otherwise the same as the regular Sprint GT, powered by a 1050cc three-cylinder engine and equipped with a preload-adjustable Showa fork, preload and rebound damping adjustable Showa rear shock, ABS, and color-matched panniers. Triumph is pricing the Sprint GT SE at £8,999 (U.S.$13,845) in the U.K., a £500 premium over the base Sprint GT.

The Triumph Tiger Explorer  gets two new colors in Britain, with Crystal White and Matt Graphite joining the existing Graphite and Sapphire Blue color options. The Tiger Explorer also gets a new Triumph badge replacing the previous Triumph logo decal. The XC version of the Tiger Explorer also gets a new Crystal Whit/Matt Graphite option in addition to the existing Matt Graphite and Matt Khaki Green colors.

And finally, the Triumph Street Triple receives a new Cosmic Green color in its home market. We’ll need to wait a month or two to find out if it and the other color options listed above will be offered to North American dealers.
