The CB450 K1 Super Sport is the improved "Black Bomber" with a five-speed transmission (instead of four) and an updated tank. The Black Bomber was Honda's largest displacement motor and flagship bike from 1965 – 1969. It earned fame by winning first place three years in a row at the isle of man race 500cc class; 1965, 1966 & 1967. A revolutionary engine design using double over head cams and torsion bar valve springs yielded 43 BHP @ 10,000+ RPM.   This 100+ mph model established Honda as a world class motorcycle manufacturer.

It is hard to know the mileage accuracy on most of these vintage bikes but I do have documentation on the last title of this one.  It shows some visible patina and signs of wear, but it is unusual for these to be this original and still look fresh and ready to ride.  A combination of new reproduction and original parts to make this bike a reliable, comfortable and great looking original machine.

The recent reconditioning of this bike has been performed beginning with a full disassembly. The frame was thoroughly cleaned and has original paint. The original gas tank is in good condition but the previous owner epoxy coated inside anyway due to today’s fuel types. The outside of the tank has flaws that can be seen in the photos and has the original paint and chromed panels.  The tank badges are quality reproductions. The petcock has been rebuilt and new fuel lines ensure reliable performance.

The original paint on the side covers shine brilliantly but the right one is scratched as shown in photos.  The original chrome has some minor pitting but is in excellent condition for almost 50 years old. The crown is polished and the original handlebar risers are mounted with new bushings for secure and responsive handling. All of the cables, controls, switches, wiring, perches, levers, mirrors and grips, are all NOS or new quality reproduction parts. The original headlight bucket, speedometer and tachometer look great and all of the lights and gauges function properly.

The exhaust system is in good condition and solid throughout. The original chrome is very shiny with only some minor scratches. The left muffler is dinged and each muffler has a small acid drip stain. The mufflers are. They are quiet at idle and roar at high RPM, like they should.

It starts right up and idles smoothly at 1,200 RPM. The clutch works fine and the transmission shifts easily through the gears. The motor runs great with no smoke or leaks. The bike has been very reliable for me on local around town rides. It looks very original and the cases have a nice shine with great patina.  The carburetors have been ultrasonically cleaned, new gaskets installed and properly adjusted.

The new seat cover is a high quality reproduction that looks original and is very comfortable. The headlights, taillights, electric starter and kick starter all work properly.  The original wiring harness is in good unmolested condition. The rims are true and shine well with some pitting spots.

This Honda Black Bomber is in excellent condition with a beautiful patina and would make a fine addition to any collection. At almost 50 years old, it should make a sound investment that will only appreciate in value over the next few years. I have enjoyed riding it and always got lots of comments from people admiring the bike. I have tried to describe this motorcycle as best as possible. This bike is nearly 50 years old and it's condition should be considered to be consistent with a vehicle of that age. It does not look showroom new, but still looks wonderful.

New items include: battery, steering damper, levers, throttle, handlebar riser bushings, spark plugs, petcock gaskets, fuel lines, and seat cover.

The frame VIN is CB450-3004757

Motor number is CB450E-3004782
