Harley-Davidson Denies Plans for Small-Displacement Model for India

India’s 13-million-unit-per-year motorcycle market is comprised of mostly small-displacement models, so it sounds odd at first when manufacturers such as Harley-Davidson and Triumph enter the market with their larger-displacment models. The question quickly arises as to whether they will stick with their existing big-bore models or introduce an all-new, small-capacity model for the Indian market. Manufacturers like the Big Four from Japan already produce smaller models for other markets so it’s a relatively easy task for them to introduce new models such as Honda‘s recently launched 109cc Dream Yuga.

Harley-Davidson Confirms 500cc Model on the Way, Says Electric Harleys Not That Far-Fetched

It’s only been a couple of weeks since Harley-Davidson broke new ground by unveiling new “Twin-Cooled” liquid precision-cooling engine technology its new Project Rushmore suite of customer-driven refinements, but the Motor Company appears to have even more ambitious plans in the works. Speaking at Harley-Davidson’s 110th anniversary celebrations, Chief Operating Officer Matthew Levatich confirmed the company is producing a new 500cc model and opened the possibility of an electric Harley-Davidson somewhere down the line. 2015 Harley-Davidson CVO and Twin-Cooled Models Certified by CARB

The California Air Resource Board has released new certification documents revealing most of Harley-Davidson‘s 2015 line-up. The CARB executive orders, required before a motorcycle is allowed to be sold in California, reveal new CVO versions of the Road Glide Ultra and Street Glide, two low versions of the Electra Glide and more models receiving Harley-Davidson’s Twin-Cooled engine. Introduced last year on the Ultra Limited, CVO Limited and Tri-Glide Ultra trike, the Twin-Cooled engine uses liquid-cooling for the cylinder heads, reducing emissions.
