Aprilia Tuono 1000R description

Bought this beautiful Italian naked V-Twin brand new in 2011 and have been the only owner. By far this is the best motorcycle I've ever owned or ridden! This is Aprilia's full on race bike minus the fairings, and with fat dirt bike bars instead of clip ons, straight from the factory. Very stunning bike as Aprilia really sculpted this bike like none other! It's one of those rare bikes that you can just enjoy staring at... the lines are amazing! Now the power... I've had the ECU switched over to Aprilia's own race map. Then I removed the stock, restrictive core and the catalytic converters in the pipes, then put custom made, 62% perforated baffles in and packed them with  Silent Sport Race Packing... so the bike now has full power and great sound, approximately 170 HP V-Twin! The power curve is perfectly linear, with big grunty torque from down low all the way to its 11,200 redline! Tho it makes all of its power by 9,800 there's no reason to wring it out that far. Yet you can easily idle thru a parking lot with perfectly smooth clutch operation and an easy to manage engine. The fueling is spot on with no dips or jerkyness of the stock map. Hold the throttle and hang on as this powerful twin will go 154mph! Use to be 174mph but I went down a tooth on the front sprocket to put the power in a more usable area. The Sachs suspension is also spot on... you can control this brute well enough to still bank it all the way over thru a corner even while on a bumpy road! The perfect balance of engine and suspension really is amazing! It's a bike I've always said I'd never sell, and truly hate to see go, but other opportunities have taken precedence. I am a professional powersport technician by trade, this is what I do and according to my customers I'm pretty good at it. I will fight and cuss and grunt thru a job to do it right rather then half ass it... every time! So this Italian naked sport bike has been WELL taken care of for the entire 27,xxx miles! I have used AmsOil fully synthetic 20w-50 from the very first oil change, and even tho synthetic oil will last longer I have still changed the oil every 3500 miles. A little dampness of the forks meant complete overhaul with new bushings and seals. While the forks where off I replaced the steering stem bearings. Same with the rear shock. While I was there I rebuilt the swingarm and shock linkages. I have done a valve adjustment every winter whether the mileage has said I needed it or not... and the valves have never been tight! Which means my valves haven't ever overheated and the engine is allowed to run cooler! They were always in spec but I still have hand sanded each shim so the valves where perfectly in the middle of the spec! ... yes I drive myself crazy! HaHa But I take damn good care of everything I own and it takes care of me. Really a great and rare bike that has been cared for with passion! Nothing needs done and nothing will wear out soon... hop on, crack it open, and smile big! I have a clear VIN report available. Thanks for your time and interest!

Pikes Peak 87th Annual International Hill Climb [pics and video]

Fri, 15 May 2009

Named after a man by the name of Zebulon Pike, an explorer who led an expedition to the area in 1806, Pikes Peak is home to the second oldest motorsports race in America second only to the Indianapolis 500. First completed in 1916, this year marks the 87th running of the “Race to the Clouds.” If the math doesn’t add up, this is because there were several years that the event did not run over the course of its 93 year history. The 12.4 mile trek up the mountain consists of 156 treacherous turns to an elevation of 14,110 feet.

Exclusive SBK Special Edition 2013 Aprilia RSV4 Factory Announced for North America

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Aprilia is producing a special edition RSV4 for the U.S. and Canada to celebrate Max Biaggi‘s World Superbike Championship-winning 2012 season. The special edition model will only be available in North America, though we’d prefer if Piaggio could come up with a less awkward name than the 2013 Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC ABS SBK SE.
