Kawasaki Other description

Relisted as I had listed in wrong category and Ebay pulled
1993 Kawasaki ZR1100 (sometimes referred to as a Zephyr) This model was sold in the US in 1993 and Europe and Canada from 92-94
I am the original owner, clean title
This is an incomplete project bike, please read carefully and contact me with any questions before bidding.Bike has been in storage for 10+ years so I may be fuzzy on some of the details, please contact me for exact specs and I will get them for you.
This bike was professionally built, nothing 2nd class here. An afternoon of detailing would bring it back to show quality.
This is not a complete bike, you will need carbs,chain,battery to name a few. I would also recommend a strong mechanical background as it is an unfinished project. I have come to realized I will probably never finish so its time to free up some garage space.

Chassis mods include;
custom aluminum swingarm, w/integrated airtank and nitrous holder, drive side clubfoot arm (total wheelbase of bike is 66-68")
custom battery box under swingarm
Works Performance shocks custom engineered for extended arm ($750)

frame has slight rake for exhaust pipe clearance (see photo)

RC Engineering wheels (needs tires)

lowered fork, stainless brake and clutch lines with smoke carbon covering, custom clip-on handlebars, custom aluminum panels under seat and inner fender for mounting of elec components

frame and swingarm powder coated black, body professionally painted (flawless!). All aluminum is either polished or anodized black or red. steel hardware is gold cadmium plated. This bike is my baby and I spared no expense! needs some TLC

Engine mods:

1322cc Aries pistons, new rings, Will need sleeves installed (sleeves included) Could be off by a couple cc's, its been a few years

Megacycle cams, approx. .435" lift, shim under buckets, O.S. valves, PM springs, titanium intake valves (40 mm I believe)

fresh head by Ward Perf, bronze seats, spring pressure set, bronze guides (all new) port job was done by myself patterened after an old KZ head with epoxied floors. (this combo has ran 9:20 with an 80 shot of NOS, only raced 2 or 3 times never dialed in)

Carrillo rods

fresh R&D trans

The following mods are new, bike has never ran with these items;

5mm stroked crank by Falicon ( will need to custom cut a thicker base gasket/spacer) total engine displacement with stroker about 1460cc

billet basket and lock-up clutch (converted to J model clutch) custom clutch cover spacer for lock-up (original clutch included)

Modified V&H pro stock exhaust to fit ZR head. pipe fits behind fender and under footpegs, very nice piece! Header pipes are ceramic coated, megaphone is polished alum

cylinder head ports straightened out for better flow, will need to run individual carbs like Lectrons as rack type will no longer fit. Carbs not included!

Dyna 4000 pro stock ignition (dual plug head is standard on this bike) coil mounts on frame were made to fit all 4 Dyna coils under tank, very clean!

bike ran low 9's before the above mentioned mods. I would think mid 8's would be reasonable with these new additions.

I had a set of 40 Lectrons and a NOS kit but sold them a couple years ago to finance another hobby. the carbs do fit the head nicely and the cyl head is tapped for the NOS nozzles.

I do have a NOS bottle or 2 as well as headlight, grips and other items missing in photos. most stock items were sold but whatever I have will be included in this auction.

As this bike was only made a few years it may not be wise to spend a bunch of money on the motor, unfortunately I have... I would recommend a KZ or GPZ motor if you were going to race on a regular basis. Obviously the engine mounts would have to be modified and my nice exhaust would not fit the KZ head. I am not saying its not a durable engine, just that in the event of failure, parts may be hard to come by. I do occasionally see used ZR1100 engines on Ebay. The original build was performed at about 3500 miles.

Feel free to contact me with questions, I would consider splitting chassis and engine, contact me.

Good luck!

Ninja Comes Back to Life

Mon, 27 Oct 2008

Kyle Dansie purchased his 1986 Kawasaki Ninja ZX 900 on eBay for $500. At the time, it had roughly 18,000 miles on it with only the tires, frame and suspension in working order. Kyle then managed to convert this motorcycle not only to run without gasoline, but to harness solar power to charge it.

Tue, 17 Aug 2010

Need something to do on August Bank Holiday weekend, then read below: "Although the South West Motorcycle Show has been running at the Westpoint Arena for the last sixteen years, 2010 is the first year that the show hosts the all-new Vertical Trix European Stunt Championship. The show contains all the usual attractions that have been delivered to motorcyclists from over the south-west and further afield since 1994 – including all the appropriate trade stands, and with strong support from local dealers – plus attractions such a a dyno on site, restaurant, bar, bike displays, live music and of course the live action arena. Although the action in the show arena has previously been stunt displays, rather than a full-on competition.
