Yamaha XS description

For your consideration, is a 1977 yamaha xs 650,This auction is for what is pictured only frame engine carbs tank ONLY!! i purchased this with the intention of making it into a cool chop, but no cash or time left , so my loss is your gain, The engine has good compression andkicks over well, there is no electric start, the kicker has a brass kicker pedal, there is chrome valve covers and acorn nuts, i have never had the engine running or apart, so i cannot say with certainty, of the condition, i was told from the previous owner it was gone through, but i have no way of documenting this. The transmission shifts well and is solid, it has a foot clutch and hand shift, a very unique set up, the goose neck pipes are one off,and it comes with a coffin gas tank, the frame had the hardtail treatment and the front neck is degreed for at least a six foot front end. it currently is set up for a disc rear brake, but does not have a wheel or components.

I was told the frame was painted by a so called well known painter by the name of tom downey, as his name appears on the neck  The frame is very solid and im sure it will be very stable on the highway, it will also include twin carburetors, but they will need a total rebuild. all the parts i have for it are shown, i also have a title that is signed , just not sent in and turned over so it goes to you as well.

I have tried my best to accurately describe this item but i am sure you will have questions so ask me any and all and i will answer everything.
The item is local pickup but for a fee i can deliver within a reasonable distance, or i can furnish you with a reputable shipper i have used before that is relatively inexpensive

Thank you and good luck!!

Day 11 Dakar 2014: Coma Wins, Extends Overall Lead

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

Day 11 marked the longest stage to date of the Dakar Rally, as the competitors tackled the 605km (376 miles) special stage, covering a variety of terrain, hard ground, mountains, plus 120km (75 miles) of sand and dunes in the Copiapo area. Despite this, and a fall at the beginning of the stage, Marc Coma again demonstrated his status as boss of the Dakar 2014, by picking up his third victory of the year, further reinforcing his position at the top of the general standings. Five-time Dakar winner Cyril Depres opened the piste for 400km before dropping slightly to finish just 02:31 behind Marc Coma in first.

Yamaha Focusing on Developing Model Platforms

Mon, 22 Sep 2014

Following the success of its MT platform, Yamaha says it will continue to develop new models based on shared platforms, allowing for a choice of multiple models while reducing overall costs. Speaking in a presentation on the company’s business operation, Yamaha Motor President Hiroyuki Yanagi reiterated the strategy of developing multiple models sharing the same engine and frame. Honda has followed a similar strategy with its NC models, seeing the platform evolve to include the CTX700 and NM4.
